For more than one-hundred years, the artistic community in Montreal has made its home in the Saint-Louis Square area, where you will discover colorful buildings with staircases that are beautiful to behold. The Mile End is technically in the same district as the Plateau and it has been compared to New York City’s Williamsburg neighborhood with its concentration of hipsters and Orthodox Jews. Two of Montreal’s most iconic bagel shops, Fairmount and St. Viateur, are found in The Mile End, along with the popular Café Olimpico, the Drawn & Quarterly bookstore, and many vintage shops.
